Day 18 of the EuroVelo6 ride across Europe. Today's trek was from Mengen to Ulm France a 61 mile ride. We are basically following the Danube river valley. Wet conditions were expected but luckily no rain. A great day of riding with minimal climbing. Having said that, one of today's climbs was an astounding 29% incline. That is taking the McCluggage bridge incline and adding another 20%. Now, that is steep. Road conditions for the most part were favorable, but as I have learned, there will be gravel and rock at some point. While it still "rattles me timbers" most of today's trail was asphalt. On another note, we have just completed about 800 miles of the journey. And, until today, no punctures. Well that record has ended as Tom had a flat about five miles from out evenings destination. But for anyone who has biked for any time, punctures are a normal occurrence and we were back on the trail in short order. Other than that it was a great day to bike across Europe.
