Day 13 of the EuroVelo6 bicycle ride across Europe. A drizzly, rainy morning with a hight percentage of rain predicted all the way to our destination at Montbeliard, France. So, we decided to not bike today. Instead we rode in the van to Montbeliard and visited the Peugeot Museum fulling one of the other objectives of doing this ride i.e. visit interesting places along the way. While most people think Peugeot only manufactured automobiles, the company started making bicycles and coffee mills in 1810 and progressed through a number of products, including an airplane engine through the years. Enjoy the pics and as one of our travelers (Ronni) said "you've seen one car, you've seen them all". So I will limit the amount of pics posted to comply with her statement.
On another note, this is our last day in France as tomorrow we will be in Basal, Switzerland. A couple thoughts on our time in France. The places we traveled through were as scenic and interesting as any of my distance biking adventures. And, even though there was a language barrier the people were very accommodating. Eating dinner at a restaurant did not begin until 7:00 or 7:30 because most of them did not open until then. I also discovered I am not a fan of "tartare boeuf" beef tartar. If you don't know what it is.....don't order it! Another difference was that often check-in time at the hotel was usually around 5:00 p.m and one as late as 7:00 p.m. But, that made it a better day as we were able to relax, have a beer and reflect on that day's activities. Switzerland tomorrow, Germany Wednesday.
