A new biking adventure begins.  Arrived in Stuttgart today to rest and recover after a 12 hour flight from Chicago.  Our EuroVelo6 bike tour across Europe commences in three days.  The good news is that across from our hotel is a BEER GARDEN.  Who would ever though of that?  Beer gardens in Germany.  Anyway, met up the other riders in our group and can't wait until we start the actual ride.

Okay, fans, fellows, females,  and followers another big adventure begins in just two days.  Be sure to check it out.  Most of my rides turn into adventures and I expect the same for the Europe ride.  Will be in Stuttgart, Germany on Sunday, rest a day to avoid "jet lag", drive to Nantes on the west coast of France on Tuesday and begin the actual ride on Wednesday.   Looking forward to another fun bike ride.  On another note, we have already exchanged some of our dollars for Euros.  All my friends who have seen the money make the same statement......Hey, it looks like monopoly money! All packed and ready to go.  Stay tuned.

Last long training ride before Europe ride.  55 miles to LeRoy in a little over 3 hours. This week will be shorter rides just to maintain.   Bike goes in for tune-up on Wednesday and packing it for travel on Thursday.  Did some research on the EuroVelo6 bike trail across Europe and am excited to begin this adventure.  For those who do not have facebook, I will post pictures and description here.

Well, I'm at it again.  I have been asked to join some friends on a bicycle tour through......wait for it......Europe.  Got an e-mail from Tom that they had an opening for their Europe ride.  Had to reschedule some things but I couldn't pass on this great opportunity.  The ride begins in the small town of St. Nazarine near Nantes on the west coast of France, nips of the end of Switzerland, traverses Germany and, for me, finishes in Vienna, Austria.  Tom and Jay will bike a couple more days and end in Budapest, Hungary.  It's about 1,500 miles but we will be taking an entire month to complete it.  Over there it is called the EuroVelo6. As usual I plan to post a daily summary on this site.  We meet in Stuttgart, Germany and drive to our starting point with the support vehicle driven by our wives.  The average miles for the journey is about 59 miles per day.  Really looking forward to the experience.  Now, I must brush up on my French, German. Well actually, not so much "brush up"  since that implies I knew the language so I will try to learn some common phrases.  I don' think my Spanish will be of much help.   Stay tuned.
