Day 14 of the EuroVelo6 riding a bicycle across Europe. Our route today took us from Montbeliard France to Basal Switzerland. With the deviations (detours) the total miles was right at 60. Perfect riding conditions awaited us as we left Montbeliard. Tail winds, temperature in the 60's and smooth flat road along the canal. Stopped at the 23 mile marker for a little expresso and met the women at the 34 mile mark for lunch. It cannot be expressed enough my appreciation for how Ronni and Robin have helped with our journey. They are angels indeed! Feeling confident that this section of road would last into Basel, we flew along the bike path. But, not so fast Lance Armstrong. At mile marker 40 we encountered graval. And parts were rock. That was not what we expected so we took a deviation (detour) It lasted long enough for us to get lost and thanks to Jay we finally made it back to the route. Gravel was preferrable to the deviations. From the pics you can see that in order to return to the Velo6 trail we had to overcome some obstacles. One being a set of circular steps and another involved climbing a dirt incline. But all's well in the end. All in all another exciting day biking through Europe.
